    atyaṣṭi Tatpur. f. (-ṣṭiḥ) 1 The name of a class of metres re-

    gulated by number and quantity. See aticchandas. It con-

    sists of four lines with seventeen syllables to each line and

    comprises twelve varieties. (See 1 śikhariṇī, 2 pṛthvī, 3 vaṃ-

    śapatrapatita or vaṃśapatra, 4 hariṇī, 5 mandākrāntā, 6 narkuṭaka or

    nardhaṭaka or avitatha, 7 kokilaka, 8 hari, 9 kāntā or krāntā,

    10 citralekhā or atiśayanī, 11 mālādhara or vanamālādhara, 12 hā-

    riṇī.) 2 (In arithmetic sometimes used to denote) the

    numeral 17. E. ati (sc. krāntā) and aṣṭi, another metre

    (in the sense of the accusative).
