ativyāpta

ativyāpta m. f. n. (-ptaḥ-ptā-ptam) (In grammar and philo-

sophy.) Obtained through generalizing by going beyond the

mark or too far, inferred without being warranted by the

rules, premises &c. given, not authorised. E. āp with

vi and ati, kṛt aff. kta.

ati—vyāpta mfn. stretched too far (as a rule or principle).
