-tī ) The name of a class of metres
regulated by number and quantity. See aticchandas . It
comprises sixteen varieties and consists of a stanza of
four lines, with thirteen syllables in each line. (See
1 praharṣiṇī, 2 rucirā (or atirucirā ), 3 mattamayūra (or mā-
yā ), 4 gaurī, 5 mañjubhāṣiṇī (or prabodhitā, or sunandinī,
or kanakaprabhā ), 6 candrikā (or kṣamā, or utpalinī, or kuṭi-
lagati ), 7 kalahaṃsa (or citravatī, or siṃhanāda ), 8 cañcarikā-
valī, 9 candralekhā, 10 vidyut, 11 mṛgendramukha, 12 tāraka, 12 ka-
lākanda (or kanda ), 14 paṅkajāvalī (or paṅkāvalī ), 15 caṇḍī,
16 prabhāvatī .) E. ati (sc. krāntā ) and jagatī (in the sense
of the accusative) ‘going beyond the metre jagatī q. v.’.
