    arvā́c, stark arvā́ñc- [von arva und ac], a., „in die Nähe gewandt”, insbesondere: in die des Redenden, also „hergewandt, herwärts kommend”, selten: in die Nähe eines andern, also „zugewandt”. Gegensatz párāc ({164,19}) und beim Adv. parás ({897,9}). Also 1) hergewandt und zwar unmittelbar mit einem Subst. verbunden; 2) in der Verbindung des Nom. mit den Verben des Gehens yā, i, gam, gā, die noch häufig das Richtungswort ā́, abhí oder úpa bei sich haben: nahe herbei kommen; 3) ebenso mit vṛt und ā́ sich nahe her wenden; 4) ebenso mit bhū oder zu ergänzendem bhū nahe sein; 5) in der Verbindung des Acc. mit den transitiven Verben des fahrens, treibens, wendens vah, cud (Caus.), vṛt mit oder ohne ā́: nahe herbei fahren u. s. w.; 6) ebenso mit kṛ: herbei schaffen, in gleichem Sinne auch mit yaj durch Opfer herbeischaffen [von Agni] {45,10}; 7) mit nud ({634,8}) herwärts stossen d. h. herab stossen; 8) zugewandt (den Göttern) nur {670,1}, wo es jedoch auch adverbial gefasst werden kann. Das Adverb arvā́k zeigt zuerst die Bedeutungen 2—6 iṅ ganz entsprechender Weise, sodass beide Constructionen mit einander wechseln; namentlich findet sich die adverbiale Construction häufig da, wo das herannahende eine Zweiheit darstellt, also wo der du. arvā́ñcā an seiner Stelle wäre, selten wo der Singular ({266,13}; {277,6}; {478,1}) oder Plural ({841,4}; {555,3}) zu erwarten wäre; ausserdem 9) in der Nähe; insbesondere 10) in der Verbindung: arvā́g rátham ní yachatam, lasst euren Wagen bei uns einkehren.
