(fr. rt. ṛ, see ara), Ved. swiftly, at hand, near, present; readily, fitly, suitably, so as to answer a purpose; enough, sufficient [cf. alam and Gr. ἄρα]. —Araṅ-kṛ and araṅ-gam, see p. 80, col. 2. —Aramaṇas, ās, ās, as (for aram-m°), Ved. ready to serve, obedient, devoted to the worship of God; (according to native interpreta- tion) having hostile intentions. —Aramati, is, f. (for aram-m°), Ved. readiness to serve, obedience, devo- tion; a goddess, described in the Vedas as protecting the worshippers of the gods and pious works in general; (according to others) not resting, active, going everywhere; splendor. —Aram-iṣ, ṭ, ṭ, ṭ, Ved. hastening near (?).
áram adv. suitably, conveniently, sufficiently, enough; áram++°kāmāya according to one's wish. — °kṛ make or get ready, serve (dat.), aram°bhū & aram°gam be present or at hand.

áram, adverbialer Acc. n. von ára (s. o.), 1) passend, angemessen, gemäss (mit Dat.), insbesondere in der Begriffswendung: so gross, reichlich, herrlich, wie es der Grösse, dem Reichthum, der Herrlichkeit des im Dativ stehenden Gegenstandes gleichkommt, entspricht oder gebührt; 2) in dem Sinne: der Art nach entsprechend, z. B. kā́māya, dem Wunsche gemäss ({922,7}; {923,18}); jājā́‿iva yónau, áram víśvasmai, wie die Gattin im Schoose, sich jedem anschmiegend ({66,5}). Wer dem Dürftigen gibt, áram asmai bhavati, dem geschieht es auf entsprechende Weise ({943,3}). Eure Wünsche mögen in entsprechender Weise eintreffen ({515,1}). Die beiden Rosse sind mir passend, wenn ich des Morgens reise oder zu anderer Zeit ({328,24}). — Die Sonne steigt empor, víśvasmai cákṣase áram, einem jeden zum Sehen geeignet ({582,14}); 3) als Adverb zu purú, pṛthú kann es durch „hinreichend” übersetzt werden.
