II. Not destroying, protecting; (according to Mahīdhara

on the Vājas. verse: agneḥ purīṣamapso nāma, viz. psā bhakṣaṇe .

na psāti bhakṣayati vināśayatītyapso rakṣako nāma yo'gni-

stasya &c., when the mascul. requires the ellipsis of agni;
