apna

apna m. (-pnaḥ) (ved.) A son, progeny; (according to Mahī-

dhara's view of the form apnaḥ Nigh. 2. 2., which therefore

is according to him the nom. of apna--comp. apnas--,

in his explanation of apnavānaḥ--see apnavan and apnavāna

--Vājas. 3. 15.). E. ap (comp. the E. of apta), uṇ. aff. na (?).

Apna, as, m. or apnas, as, n., Ved. possession,

property; work, sacrificial act; progeny; shape [cf.

Lat. ops]. —Apnah-stha, as, m., Ved. superintending

work. —Apna-rāj, ṭ, m., Ved. possessing property;

illustrious through work. —Apnas-vat, ān, atī, at,

Ved. productive, having sacrificial acts or work.
