apasada m. (-daḥ) A low man, an outcaste; it especially applies to the children of six degrading connexions, or of a Brāhmaṇa with the women of the three lower classes; of a Kṣatriya with women of two, the Vaiśya and Śūdra; and of a Vaiśya with one of a lower class or a Śūdra.

apa-sada (daḥ) 1. m. An outcast.

apasada Tatpur. m. (-daḥ) ¹ An offspring of either of six de-

grading connexions, when the father is superior in caste to

that of the mother, viz. of a Brāhmana with the women of

the three lower castes; of a Kshatriya with women of the

Vaiśya and Sūdra--, and of a Vaiśya with a woman of

the Śūdra caste. Men of this kind must follow occu-

pations which are held in disrespect by the three first

castes. Compare also apadhvaṃsaja. ² A low or contemptible

man in general; in this sense the word may form Karmadh.

compounds of which it is the latter part; e. g. śrutiviro-

dhānna kutarkāpasadasyātmalābhaḥ. Also read, but less correctly

individual; in this signification, it is

generally the latter part of a comp.,

MBh. xiii, 2620 seqq. and apadhvaṃsa-ja), an outcast (often ifc.; See brāhmaṇāpasada).
