apāṅgaapāṅga (apa-aṅ°) or apāṅgaka, as,ā, am, maimed, crippled; wanting or deformed in some limb; (as), m. the outer corner of the eye (sometimes as last member of a feminine comp. ending in ā or ī); a sectarial mark or circlet on the forehead; N. of Kāma, the god of love; a plant, Achyranthes Aspera. —Apāṅga-darśana, am, n. a side glance, a leer, a wink. —Apāṅga-deśa, as, m. the place round the outer corner of the eye. —Apāṅga-netra, as, ā,am, having eyes with beautiful outer angles.

[apagatam aṅga yasya] 1 Wanting or deformed in some limb of the body. -2 Maimed, crippled -ṅgaḥ-ṅgakaḥ [apāṅgati tiryak calati netraṃ yatra, apa-aṅga-ghañ] 1 The outer corner or angle of the eye; calāpāṅgāṃ dṛṣṭim Ś.1.24; ammahe apāṅgakaḥ sphurati kimapi vāmakaḥ M.2.4. -2 A sectarial mark on the forehead. -3 Cupid, the god of love. -4 N. of a plant (apāmārga - Mar. āghāḍā.) &c. apāṅge netrayorante tilakāṅgavihīnayoḥ Nm. -5 End; athemāṃ sāgarāpāṅgīṃ gām (adhyatiṣṭhat) Mb.1.64.13. -Comp. -darśanam, -dṛṣṭiḥf.-vilokitam, -vīkṣaṇam &c. a side-glance, side-long look, wink. -deśaḥ the place of the corner of the eye; the corner itself. -netraa. (said of a lady) having eyes with beautiful (or long) outer corners; yadiyaṃ punarapyapāṅga- netrā parivṛttārdhamukhī mayādya dṛṣṭā V.1.19. (a better interpretation would however be 'with the eyes turned towards the corners' apāṅgayoḥ prerite netre yayāi. e. casting side-long looks.)
