anvādeśa Tatpur. m. (-śaḥ) A reference made to a previous

statement (anvādeśaśca kathitānukathanamātram); sentences con-

taining such a reference are introduced by the particles atha

or atho, e. g. asmai chātrāya kambalaṃ dehi . atho asmai śāka-

ṭamapi dehi; or asya cchātrasya śobhanaṃ śīlam . atho asya

prabhūtamapi svam. (For the use which is made in such sen-

tences of the pronominal bases a and ena see s. vv. idam

and etad, and of mā, me, nau, nas, tvā, te, vām, vas

Anv-ādeśa, as, m. mentioning after, a repeated

mention, referring to what has been stated previously,

re-employment of the same word in a subsequent

part of a sentence, the employment again of the same

thing to perform a subsequent operation.
