cealed, hidden; antarvāvadakṛṇojjyotiṣā tamaḥ ‘he has hidden

darkness with light’. E. vā, in the intens., with antar,

kṛt aff. śatṛ.

II. m. f. n. (-vān-vatī-vat) (ved.) Endowed with trea-

sures or with sons, cattle &c. in its interior; antarvāvatkṣayaṃ

dadhe ‘he possesses a dwelling abounding internally with

treasures or with sons &c.’. E. antarvā, taddh. aff. matup;

Sāyaṇa explains antarvā as meaning liter. ‘going within,

being within, belonging to’ and thus assuming the sense of

treasure &c.; he makes it optional, however, to consider

in the latter instance antarvāvat as representing also anta-

rvāvad, when the word would come from antar and vāvad

‘speaking much’ the intens. of vad, kṛt aff. kvip, the

sense remaining the same, but the word being then a

Tatpurusha.
