    antaḥpratiṣṭhāna Tatpur. n. (-nam) Residing in the interior,

    being in the interior; e. g. in a Pūrvapakṣa of a Sūtra of

    the Vedānta śabdādibhyo'ntaḥpratiṣṭhānānna (the supreme Lord

    is) not (Vaiśvānara) on account of the “word” (Vaiśvānara

    itself which means fire)--śabdastāvat . vaiśvānaraśabdo na

    parameśvare sambhavati . arthāntare rūḍhatvāt--, on account of

    “and so on” (the word fire having other distinct appli-

    cations as in sacrificial acts &c.)--and on account of (it

    being said that it has) its residence in the interior (of the

    man, i. e. since it may have the meaning of stomachic or

    fire of digestion, according to the vaidik passage: sa yo

    haitamagniṃ vaiśvānaraṃ puruṣavidhaṃ puruṣe'ntaḥpratiṣṭhitaṃ veda sa sarva-

    trānnamatti). [In the valuable edition of the Ved. Sūtra by

    Dr. Röer the comm. to. 1. 2. 26 is to be read like the native

    edit., viz. śabdādibhyo'ntaḥpratiṣṭhānācca . śabda°°.] E. antar

    and pratiṣṭhāna.
