a-kṣára, a., nicht zerrinnend, unversiegbar. Als das nicht Zerrinnende wird insbesondere aufgefasst: 1) der Himmel oder Aetherraum, 2) das Wasser, 3) das gottverliehene Gut, 4) das Wort oder die Silbe. In den ersten drei Anwendungen blickt die Grundbedeutung überall deutlich hindurch, während sie in der letztern, namentlich in den spätern Liedern ({164,839}), ganz zurücktritt (vgl. das Folg.).
