ajā [na jāyate ityajā]

1 (According to Sāṃkhya philosophy) Prakṛti or Māyā; the verse which refers to ajā, (ajāmekāṃ lohitaśuklakṛṣṇāṃ &c.) is interpreted by the Vedāntins as referring to the prakṛti consisting of tejas, ap and anna, See Ś. B.

2 A she-goat.
