Adhi-ṣṭhātṛ, tā, trī, tṛ, superintending, presid- ing, governing, tutelary; (ā), m. a ruler; especially the supreme ruler, or Providence personified and identified with one or another of the Hindū gods; a chief; a protector.
adhiṣṭhātṛ [sthā-tṛc] Superintending, watching over, presiding over, (pb) guiding, governing; tutelary, guardian; as °trī devatā a guardian or presiding deity. — m. (tā) A superintendent, head, chief, protector, controller, regulator, ruler; sarveṃdriyādhiṣṭhātā Bhāṣā P.; especially with reference to the Almighty who is the ruler of the universe.
