bhogārthaṃ tṛṇādirūpeṇa janmoktam “śarīrajaiḥ karmmadoṣairyāti-
sthāvaratāṃ nara” iti ca sāmānyataḥ śārīrikapāpāt
vṛkṣādirūpasthāvarajanma tenaivoktamatasteṣāṃ duḥkhabhogarthameva
vṛkṣādirūpatvaprāptau indriyābhāve kathaṅkāraṃ te duḥkhamanubha-
veyurityavaśyaṃ teṣu indriyādimattvamastyeva . ataeva padmaṃ
saro'ntaraṃ gacchati, śākhā cchinnāpi cetanasaṃyogāt punaḥ
prarohatītyupalabhyate . ataeva ca śrutau “atha jīvo yāṃ
jahāti sā śuṣyatī” tyuktam . tena teṣāṃ jīvasaṃbandho'styeva
kintu viśiṣṭacetanāśūnyatvādeva teṣu acetanatvavyavahāra iti
bhedaḥ . padārthādarśe “dehaścaturvidho jñeyo jantorutpatti-
bhedataḥ . udbhijja ūṣmajo'ṇḍotthaścaturthastu jarāyuja” iti
sthāvarāṇāṃ dehasambandha uktaḥ . “cetanādhiṣṭhite bhogāyatana-
nirmmāṇamanyathā pūtibhāvaprasaṅga” iti sāṃṅkhye ca cetana-
sambandhe eva bhogāyatanarūpadehotpattiruktā . teṣāñca bhogā-

ata eva teṣāṃ dvīndriyatvena vyavahāraḥ yathoktam “pañce-
ndriyā manuṣyādyāḥ sarpādyāścaturindriyāḥ . trīndriyāḥ
kṛmikīṭādyā dvīndriyā vṛkṣajātaya” iti . manaso
vidyamānatve'pi hṛdayarūpaviśiṣṭasthānābhāvāt na spaṣṭa-
mavabodhaḥ . suśrute hi hṛdayasthānamupavarṇya “taddhṛdayaṃ
viśiṣṭacetanāśrayamityuktam” tena teṣāṃ viśiṣṭacetanāśraya-
hṛdayasthānaśūnyatvāt viśiṣṭacetanāvattvaṃ nāsti sukha-
duḥkhānubhavamātraṃ tu teṣāṃ jāyate eveti viśeṣaḥ
tenaiva svasvakarmmaphalānurūpaduḥkhānubhavāt svasvakarmmaphalabhāk-
tvam iti susthitam . cetanāśūnye padārthamātre tri0 .

tattadviśeṣajñānaśūnye ca . “tantu duḥkhābhisantaptaṃ vila-
pantamacetanamiti purā0 . atra duḥkhānutaptatvena
tadanubhavasyokteḥ tathābhūte'pi cetane acetanatvoktiḥ
vivekajñānaśūnyatvaparatvenaiva, evamanyatrāpi . “ahaṅkāralaye
suptau bhaveddeho'pyacetana” ityuktistu dehasya caitanyaprakāśā-
vacchedakatayā, jāgare svapne ca caitanyamupacaryya suṣuptau
avacchedyāhaṅkārarūpamanaso layāt kathamavacchedakatvaṃ?
syādityatī'cetanatvamityevaṃparā . anyathā “śarīrasya na
caitanyaṃ mṛteṣu vyabhicārataḥ” ityukteḥ dehe sadā
caitanyābhāvasya siddhatvāt suṣuptau tathātvakathananarthakaṃ syāt .
suṣuptāvapi indriyāṇāṃ manasaśca viśiṣṭavyāpārarāhityena
layatvopacāraḥ kintu ātmani tadāpi caitanyamastyeva .
“ānandabhuk cetomukhaḥ prājña” iti śruteḥ sukhamahamasvāpsaṃ na
kiñcidavediṣamiti” suptotthitasya parāmarśācca ānandā-
nubhavasya tatrāpi sattvāt sutarāṃ dehasya tadanubhavajñānāva-
cchedakatvamastyeveti viśeṣaḥ . vistarastu suṣuptiśabde vakṣyate .
