Ādip. of the Mahābh. v. 7013: dṛṣṭvā tu tānmattagajendrarūpāmpa-

ñcābhipadmāniva vāraṇendrān; Nīlak.: abhitaḥ padmā lakṣmīryeṣāṃ

tān . sarvāṅgasundarānityarthaḥ; Arjunam.: = padmavinduyutān;

both comm. mention moreover, instead of abhipadmān, a

v. l. atipadmān which Nīlak. interprets in the same sense:

atipadmāniti pāṭhe sa evārthaḥ, but Arjunam.: padmaḥ puṇḍarī-

kanāmā diggajaḥ . tasmādatiśayānityarthaḥ, i. e. ‘surpassing the

elephant-atlas Padma (= Puṇḍarīka)’; Nīlak. mentions, be-
