abhihrut Tatpur. m. f. n. (-t-t-t) ¹ Oppressed or over-

powered, with sin; e. g. Ṛgv.: sa nastrāsate duritādabhihrutaḥ

śaṃsādaghādabhihrutaḥ (Sāy.: so'gnirabhihruta ābhimukhyena pā-

pairhriyamāṇānno'smānduritātpāpāttrāsate…. abhito hri-

yamāṇādaghāt…trāsate). ² Acting offensively, an enemy;

e. g. Ṛgv.: abhihrutāmasi hi deva viṣpaṭ (Sāy.: he deva

abhihrutāmābhimukhyena kuṭilaṃ kurvatāṃ dviṣāṃ viṣpaṭ viśeṣeṇa bā-

dhako'si hi); or Atharv.: apa tasya dveṣo gamedabhihruto

yāvayacchatrumanti tam. E. hru (a shorter form, and considered

as a substitute, of hvṛ; comp. Pāṇ. VII. 2. 31.), with abhi,

kṛt aff. kvip.
