unchanged also after the augment; e. g. abhyaṣeṇayat, and
if reduplication takes place; e. g. desider. abhiṣiṣeṇayiṣati,
on which form Kaiyyaṭa to Pāṇ. VIII. 3. 64. observes:
avyutpannaḥ senāśabdaḥ . athavā sahenena senā . sahasya saḥ saṃjñā-
yāmiti--VI. 3. 78.--sādeśaḥ . yadā tu kṛvṛjṝṣīti--
Uṇṇādis. 3. 10.--sinoternapratyaye senāśabdo vyutpādyate tadā-
styeva ṣopadeśatvam; comp. also abhiṣiṣeṇayiṣu). To march
with an army for the purpose of attacking an enemy; e. g.
Hitopad.: apīḍayanbalaṃ śatrūñjigīṣurabhiṣeṇayet . sukhasādhyaṃ
dviṣāṃ senyaṃ dīrghaprayāṇapīḍitam. E. abhiṣeṇa, denom. aff. ṇic;
(if the E. of the Kāsikā on Pāṇ. III. 1. 25. ‘senayābhiyāti’
be correct, the word would be seni, denom. of senā, pref.
abhi, and there would be, according to the Hindu theory,
no inflected verb of a base abhiṣeṇi).
