abhīmoda

abhīmoda Tatpur. m. (-daḥ) Excessive happiness or joy; e. g.

Atharv.: ānandā modāḥ pramudo'bhīmodamudaśca ye . ucchi-

ṣṭājjajñire sarve divi devā diviśritaḥ; or ānandā modāḥ

pramudo'bhīmodamudaśca ye . haso nariṣṭā nṛttāni śarīramanu

prāviśan (where abhīmodamudaḥ is either Dwandwa ‘ex-

cessive joy and pleasure’ or perhaps an irregular intensitive

formation with the reduplication of the whole radical in-

stead of its first syllable (similar in some degree to the ved.

badbadh the intens. of bandh); the masc. of the relative, ye,

being accounted for by the preceding masculines). Comp.

abhīmoda abhī-moda, as, m. (rt. mud), joy.

—Abhīmoda-mud (only used in pl.), Ved. intense

joy and pleasure; or abhī-modamud, excessively

joyful (fr. irreg. intens. of rt. mud).
