    aṃsaḥ [aṃs karmabhāvādau ac]

    1 A part, portion; See aṃśa.

    2 The shoulder, shoulder-blade.

    3 N. of a Prince. (

    sau) The two angles of an altar. [cf. Goth. amsa; L. ansa, humerus; Gr. asilla.]

    bhārin a. (aṃse°) [bhastrādi gaṇa, aṃsa (se) bhāreṇa harati; ṣṭhan] bearing a yoke or burden on the shoulder.

    vivartin a. [upa. sa.] turned towards the shoulders; mukhamaṃsavivarti pakṣmalākṣyāḥ Ś. 3. 26.
